Everything Old is Made New

Today I began with two baskets of leftover sock yarn and a sheet of paper.  One basket of brown/gold tones, one basket of greens with a blue undertone. The sheet of paper was a list of randomly generated numbers.  I was preparing to create my new “yarn” for my sample of the upcoming FLY Skirt KAL.

Because I am going to be traveling I need the convenience of being able to easily transport my work in progress.  As such, it only makes sense for me to prepare new balls of yarn. Utilizing the method I will be sharing with the KAL participants I went about winding a magic yarn ball.

After several hours of winding and watching Ugly Betty on Netflix I now have two wonderful large skeins of “new” yarn.

I am excited about the possibilities of getting started on the skirt. I have not yet experimented with the color combination, but think it will be interesting. I am interested in seeing how the random process in which the balls were created will ultimately reveal themselves.
