First Day at Stitches Midwest!

A view of the evening nesting habits of a Stitches Teacher. Computer, name badge holder, and samples for class all laid out on the cushy hotel bed.

The gang’s all here and it has been fun catching up on professional and personal pursuits with fellow teachers. Tomorrow the Stitches Midwest classes begin and I’m all ready. Samples have been checked, handouts collated, and my outfit is all picked out. I’m so looking forward to meeting the attendees.

Thursday I’m teaching my Yarn Substitution class, then Friday and Saturday are back-to-back Market Sessions. Sunday afternoon will be another 3 hour class called The Confident Knitter. I enjoy the variety of switching between the 3 hour and 1 hour formats. Both have lots to offer the student.

Longer classes allow more in-depth discussion and experience; they are a wonderful chance to really focus on a subject or technique. However, don’t dismiss the shorter, more concentrated Market Sessions. I love the excitement students express when they are able to leave a Market Session feeling confident about a new technique after only an hour’s work. I myself am always filled with admiration for what students accomplish in that time.  It’s great that XRX offers both options for students. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll give both kinds of classes a try. There are always so many great choices! The only downside of keeping busy all weekend teaching is that I never get to take any Stitches Midwest classes. Maybe some day.
If you’re here in Schaumburg, please keep a lookout for us and say hi! If not, get out your sticks and string and knit along with us in your corner of the world.
