Just to Clarify
First of all, thanks to everyone who sent good wishes to my mom for her birthday. The last post was actually written by my friend and blogging partner Gwen. It’s not always obvious who is writing when a post shows up in Buzz or Reader, so please don’t worry-it’s all good. Anyway Gwen, the other author of this blog is, at this very moment, partying away in California with her (Gwen’s) 80-year old mom. My (Kellie’s) 66-year old mom is also doing great, and deserves her own tribute for sure, but her birthday is in January so I’ll wait till then. Or maybe when she moves this summer. In the meantime, I send my sincere best wishes to the actual birthday girl, Gwen’s mom. She raised an awesome daughter!
As for today’s post about finishing, I got nothing. No, that’s not true, but everything I wanted to write about really would have benefited from some photos, and I just didn’t get around to it. I also sort of thought today was Saturday and it wasn’t my turn. My husband was home from work today and that got me all discombobulated. So, I’ll get to work on my next post for Finishing Friday, actually take the photos and go from there.
However, I do feel duty bound to at least express an opinion about something in the finishing pantheon. So, I will tell you that I don’t use just one seam. I use the one that is best for the situation at hand. The ones I use the most are:
- Slip Stitch Crochet-firm, strong, slightly bulky
- Mattress-flexible, attractive and nearly invisible on stockinette and rib, less strong
- 3-needle bind-off-super strong, knitterly, organic, somewhat bulky
Sometimes I use more that one kind of seam on the same garment, depending on the flexibility, strength, or lack of bulk that is desired. So, stay tuned for more.
