Think Tank: Reversible Scarves (A Book Review & Giveaway)

When I first joined the knitting world as a professional, some of my most exciting moments were meeting, and then becoming friends with, many of the “famous” knitters that I had come to know and love either through the classroom or through their books (sometimes both). As more and more of these folks became close friends (and I was even sometimes considered to be famous), the excitement lessened somewhat.

In it’s place, a new kind of “famous knitter” brings me great joy and excitement.  It is when one of my students takes the stage as a professional knitter and starts developing her own level of fame.  Such is the case for Audrey Knight.  She recently published her first book, Reversible Scarves: Curing the Wrong Side Blues.

Reversible fabrics (particularly for scarves, throws and blankets) has long been a passion of mine. And there are very few resources on the subject.  This book however (available as both a print version and a digital download), is chock-full of beautiful examples and fabulous information on the subject.

Audrey starts by helping the reader see how one scarf can be worn by many people in many environments but just making a few minor tweaks to width, length or yarn choice.  Then we move on to the numerous patterns, grouped together in logical categories like Simple Stitches, Multiple Yarns, Cables and Ribs, Double Knitting and Lace.

But my personal favorite feature of the book is Audrey’s thoughts, insights and inspiration on her own design process.  These little gems, tucked throughout the book, help the reader understand her process.  And at least in my case, allowed me to see the genius she used to develop some of her designs.  In fact, part of this information I now share (giving credit of course) in my class on Reversible Fabrics.

Whether you are a scarf knitter or not, if you like beautiful designs or interesting technical knowledge this is a book you will want to add to your library.  And one of our lucky readers will have a chance to get it for free!!!  Leave a comment telling us why you think this book should be coming to live with you — and you will be entered in a random drawing to be held Nov 15th.  Oh and I forgot to mention…I will be seeing Audrey this weekend, so it will be a SIGNED copy!!

Don’t delay…and I will see you on the flip side!!!!
